Only from the perspectives of both film producers and viewers can a translator deliver the best translations satisfactory to both the clients and the audience.

Films

As a rule, a film has to tell a full story in the course of 1.5-2.5 hours with a well-knit and well-organized plot and only focus on a few major characters.

Within a limited timeframe, it has to focus more on a well-knit plot and convey more information to the audience in every single scene. What drives the plot in a film is never the literal meaning of subtitles, but their underlying connotations.

To convey what the original film intends to show to the target audience in a more faithful and complete manner, translators of film subtitles are required to have a thorough understanding of the original work, including its plots, characters, cultural connotations, moral and practical significance, and even the intended purpose of each word. Only from the perspectives of both film producers and viewers can a translator deliver the best translations satisfactory to both the clients and the audience.
